Post Malone dropped in on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show today to drop some nuggets. The braided, Texas guitar playing rapper, who came out of nowhere (Soundcloud to be exact) to lay “White Iverson” on us (192 million views on YouTube alone), talked about his vast array of musical influences, both current (Dave Mustaine, Hank Williams) and in the past (Tupac, Ice-T), while also getting a little deep with Beats One host Zane Lowe (hear the whole interview below).
“I’m just myself,” said Malone about his style. “That’s the best way to put it. I’m not worried about making a certain type of music or sticking to one type of music. I might wear skinny pants one day, I might wear thrift shop pants the next day. You just got with the flow because life is just all about how you feel.”
The self-made, multi-platinum artist, also revealed that his tentatively titled debut album, Stoney, will be coming out in August on Republic Records. He closed out the interview by saying that Justin Bieber, whom he opened up for on the Purpose World Tour, would be appearing on a track called “Deja Vu.”
Until then, thirsty fans can cuddle up to Malone’s critically-acclaimed mixtape:
