Niantic, the parent company behind the Pokémon GO has experienced a rapid slide from social liberators to evil overlords, announcing new rules and regulations for the game which aim to prevent any underhanded activity despite massive disapproval from its users.
There are various ways that you can cheat at the app including recalibrating your location and other nefarious deeds which result in accessing the game “in an unauthorized manner.” In the beginning, it seemed the only real rule was no logging into other users accounts, but now, thanks to Reddit, there’s plenty of new criteria.
As per the new T&C’s, you can no longer do anything like “falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokémon GO clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third-party software.” Doing so will result in your account getting the flick.
The use of any third-party tech is basically the gist. This comes after a wave of third-party involvement for the app, with sites such as Pokevision.com further adding to the apps experience by pinpointing Pokémons exact location.
This is all happening despite the fact that Niantic made the decision to remove certain features, including the nearby function, from the app making it borderline unplayable. The company released a statement explaining, “we will continue to work with all of you to improve the quality of the gameplay, including ongoing optimization and fine tuning of our anti-cheat system.”
