Exclusive Preview | Palmiotti and Gray’s ‘Hype’ Graphic Novel

Next month, Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray are once again unleashing a new creation in Hype. And this time, the ultimate superhero is a man who can only experience the world for 45 minutes a day!

In this world, Hype is often called upon to save the world from intense threats, but he doesn’t have a life outside of being the U.S. military’s secret weapon. Noah Haller has been bestowed the gifts of strength, power, speed, and a highly advanced intellect. The downside is that Haller has to immediately go back to sleep after 45 minutes so his cells can completely regenerate. That means that Haller doesn’t even get a full hour per day to be awake, and he’s been dreaming his life away.

For this story, Palmiotti and Gray are joined by artist Javier Pina. And CraveOnline has an exclusive look at Pina’s colored and finished pages which find scientist Amanda Marr attempting to help Haller adjust to the outside world.

Here’s the official description of the Hype graphic novel.

“The United States military has a secret weapon: an individual who wields the superhuman abilities of immense intellect, speed, power, and strength. The cost? This power only lasts forty-five minutes a day. Noah Haller is HYPE, a man who is forced to undergo complete cellular regeneration twenty-three hours each day to retain his capabilities.

As Noah works to solve the world’s complex problems, he struggles to achieve the emotional balance and understanding that comes naturally to most humans. Scientist Amanda Marr aids him in his journey, but loyalties are tested as a terrorist group threatens the world with a deadly pathogen.”

Hype will be published on January 24, 2017.
