Palmer Luckey is in Japan Cosplaying as Quiet From Metal Gear Solid V

Palmer Luckey‘s had a rough time of things in recent months. Back in September 2016 he was outed as the secret donor to Nimble America, a group who aimed to influence the US election, embarrassingly, by way of “meme magic.” In March 2017 he left Oculus, the company he co-founded, before appearing in court in their legal battle with ZeniMax, who eventually sued Oculus for $500 million for breaking an NDA and “stealing trade secrets.”

But while many would slink into the shadows after such a troubling series of events, Luckey has instead opted to travel to Japan and cosplay as Quiet, the scantily clad assassin from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. No, we’re not entirely sure why this happened, but the game’s creator Hideo Kojima has retweeted the images, so he seemingly supports Luckey’s bold choice.

Luckey was joined by a woman also cosplaying as Quiet, with the pair posing for photos with one another:

He even tried out this giant 4K helmet from Sony while dressed as the game character:

Luckey retweeted one of the images early this morning, writing: “A Weapon to Surpass Metal Gear.”

There’s no word yet on if Luckey has journeyed over to Japan for business reasons or to simply grace the country’s citizens with his impressive Quiet outfit, but it seems that his cosplaying ambitions don’t end at MGSV. In a tweet posted last month, Luckey wrote: “Anyone else seen Your Name (Kimi No Na Wa)? Saw it again last night, amazing film. I am thinking about cosplaying as Mitsuha.” With so much talk about Luckey’s next career path following his exit from Oculus, maybe the 24-year-old simply wants to travel the world
