Much announced nominations for the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, taking place on Sunday, June 18th at 9pm. “It’s been another great year in music, and we have an outstanding list of nominees highlighting the biggest and best artists from across the country and around the globe,” said Nanci MacLean, Vice-President at Bell Media Studios, in a press release. “We can’t wait to celebrate all of the nominees in what’s guaranteed to be an epic night.”
Here are eight of the nominees.
A Tribe Called Red- They’re up for Video of the Year and Fan Fave Video (for “R.E.D.”), as well as Best EDM/Dance Video (for “Stadium Pow Wow”) and Best Director.
Grimes- Receiving nods for Best EDM/Dance Video, Fan Fave Video, Best Director, and Best Pop Video (for “Venus Fly”), Grimes is raking in success right now.
Shawn Mendes- Will he win for Video of the Year (for “Mercy”), Best Pop Video (for “Mercy”), Fan Fave Artist Or Group, or Most Buzzworthy Canadian?
Alessia Cara- Last year she won the Wildcard nomination for Fan Fave Artist or Group (beating out Drake, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd). This year she’s up for Most Buzzworthy Canadian, iHeartRADIO Canadian Single of the Year, and again for Fan Fave Artist or Group.
Drake- Is he a Buzzworthy Canadian or the Fan Fave Artist or Group? Well, his track “One Dance” certainly made him popular, setting records left, right and centre (Drake’s track is also up for iHeartRADIO Canadian Single of the Year).
Ed Sheeran- International sensation Ed Sheeran received three noms this year: Most Buzzworthy International Artist or Group, iHeartRADIO International Artist of the Year, and Fan Fave International Artist or Group.
Lorde- Also getting three nominations, Lorde is up for Fan Fave International Artist or Group, Most Buzzworthy International Artist or Group, and iHeartRADIO International Artist of the Year.
The Weeknd- Up for Buzzworthy Canadian, “Starboy” has also garnered him noms for iHeartRADIO Canadian Single of the Year. The Weeknd could also take home an award for Fan Fave Artist Or Group.
