Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie Hype Big Avengers: Infinity War Scene

There’s no overstating how big Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is going to be. As the epic finale for a major arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the two-part movie has been subtly and not-so-subtly hyped up for years, going back as far as the introduction of the first infinity stone in the first Thor movie back in 2011. People are going to lose their minds over this movie and it’s safe to say based on what is being revealed that they will not be disappointed.

In particular, the scope of this film will not be a let-down. It’s going to be a crossover like none other seen in all of cinematic history. Just how big are we talking? Well, according to Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie, at least one scene will include 40 heroes all in the same place at the same time, fighting side-by-side. That’s not an exaggeration. For those that aren’t keeping up, Captain America: Civil War held the previous record for the MCU by including 12 heroes in its climactic battle for the future of their careers as superheroes and for the future of a nation. Infinity War aims to not just double this amount, but to more than triple it. That’s insane.

In fact, it seems it was pretty wild to film as much or more than it will be to watch. Anthony Mackie said this concerning the shooting of that particular scene:

There was one day we were on set and were doing this scene that’s in the trailer where we’re all running to battle, you know, all of us are on set and it’s like forty superheroes. I look to my right and I see Tom Holland and Dave Batista. I see them in the corner and Tom is literally the size of Dave’s leg, I don’t know what they’re talking about but Batista jumps up and does a kick-punch move and I was like ‘Yo, you’re about to kill him!’

So it sounds like they had a blast, which is great news for viewers. Usually when film crews have fun making a movie, moviegoers can tell and it makes watching fun as well. That’s the great thing about the sheer scale of Infinity War, in the end. It’s going to be such a joy to see so many characters that we’ve spent so long getting to know all in one place doing what they do best, and it seems that Marvel’s crew is as excited about showing us as we are about watching it all go down.
