Uber Lyft Tips
Check Both Uber and Lyft Prices
Depending on supply, demand, or a variety of factors, each apps have different prices at different times. Checking both could potentially save you some serious dough.
Pay Attention to the Direction the Driver is Coming From
Look at where the driver is coming from. Perhaps a one-minute walk could save you a few minutes of them driving in circles. The driver could be driving right into traffic and it could take even longer. Strategize where you meet the driver based on the best route to leave the area.
Leave 10 Minutes Early
Try to remember about the dreaded surge pricing. If you're at a sporting event or a concert and plan to take a rideshare, you probably are going to be way better off requesting your ride 10 minutes before the game is over. At a bar? Leave 10 minutes before last call. When the bars close, prices will spike.
Watch the Route
Maybe your driver is in the zone. Or maybe they're taking the long way to drive the price up. Make sure you send them on the right path. Distance costs you more than time, so a 5-minute longer ride that's 5 miles less will save you some money.
Take a Shared Ride If You Aren't In a Rush
Don't be shy! If you're not in a rush, then take a shared ride, which can sometimes be 50 percent less! Just don't creep the people out that you share with.
