Travis Barker Hospitalized for Pancreatitis Following Colonoscopy (A Camera Crew Can’t Be Far Behind)

The internet went into a tizzy earlier this week after learning that Travis Barker, the Blink-182 drummer now best known as Mr. Kourtney Kardashian, was taken by ambulance to, and hospitalized at, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

For hours, fans had no idea what was going on. All they had was a tweet by Barker that read “God save me.” (Which, as Machine Gun Kelly stans pointed out, is a song by MGK, and since the two are friends, many posited it was just a musical reference.)

But Barker wasn’t just giving his musician pal a shout-out. He was actually suffering. We know because shortly thereafter, Barker’s daughter, Alabama, posted her own plea on social media, asking, “Please say a prayer,” along with a photo of Barker in a hospital bed.

One could have imagined all sorts of scenarios here, but thankfully, reality isn’t as dark as some of our imaginations.

According to TMZ, the tatted rocker has pancreatitis, likely triggered by a colonoscopy. Colonoscopies are generally recommended as a cancer detection strategy for those aged 50 and older. Barker isn’t quite there yet (he’s 46), but he is a health nut just like his wife, and we can only assume he was trying to prevent debilitating health issues, not cause them.

Colonoscopy prep is a brutal, but necessary, evil. We all know that Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer, right? And damn, if he didn’t look healthy.

But in this case, the prevention was worse than the disease. Pancreatitis (a fancy word for inflammation of the pancreas) manifests in symptoms like nausea, severe stomach pain, and vomiting. Yikes. Prayers indeed.

Who knows how long we’ll have to wait for more details. One thing’s for sure: if “momager” Kris Jenner has anything to say about it, the whole ordeal will be captured on camera for Hulu’s next season of The Kardashians.
