Did Desmond get his powers from a Shai-Hulud in Dune: Prophecy?
Desmond Hart claims that his powers originated from the Shai-Hulud after he was swallowed by it on Arrakis. But, the story is yet to be verified.
As seen in the first episode, Hart is introduced as a soldier who survived a deadly battle on the desert planet of Arrakis. During his time in the place, he faced an attack from Shai-Hulud. For the unaware, sandworms are known as Shai-Hulud by the Fremen. In the Fremen culture, the Fremen were the riders, capturing the sandworms to convert them into a weapon of their choice. The sandworms are sacred and are even considered an embodiment of One God, who controls the universe.
However, the Dune: Prophecy brings a shocking twist to the sandworms with Desmond Hart. It is revealed that Hart managed to survive the attack of Shai-Hulud that first swallowed him. Although not verified yet, Hart claims that he stimulated his powers from the sandworm could be possible. Hart also killed Pruwet Richese and Kasha, seemingly from these powers without even touching them. The desert and the sandworm might have helped the soldier possess a power that can create fire without touching people. Many also believe he became a ghola, aka a clone from a dead tissue after getting killed by the sacred creature.
In the recent episode, Desmond Hart even survives the powerful Voice attack by Valya Harkonnen. As fans are aware, Hart is a villain posing a huge threat to the Sisterhood with his mystery intensifying in every episode. It will be interesting to see how powerful Hart will become or if his true intentions will be exposed in the upcoming episodes.
