Updated Story: EA has sent over an official press release confirming the inclusion of a download voucher for the original Alice with copies of Alice: Madness Returns on Xbox 360 and PS3. The presser also mentions that if players buy Alice: Madness Returns used and it does not come with a DL voucher they can still buy the original Alice on Xbox Live and PSN for 800 MS Points and $9.99, respectively, through a menu option in Alice: Madness Returns. The Alice: Madness Returns disc is required to access the downloadable copy of Alice.
Original Story: Are you interested in the upcoming twisted action-platformer American McGee’s Alice: Madness Returns? But do you fall in the camp of being slightly turned away because you never played the original Alice on PC back in 2000? Well fear not, American McGee, Spicy Horse Games and EA have you covered. Alice: Madness Returns on consoles will come with a download voucher for the original cult-classic title. This marks the first time the original Alice will be available on consoles, mind you.
This enticing announcement is coming straight from the (spicy) horse’s mouth himself, American McGee, who recently spilled the beans while talking to CVG. For people like myself, those who never got a chance to play the original game, this should come as welcomed news. Personally, I was already interested in Alice: Madness Returns, now it’s a no-brainer. Two terrifying games for the price of one — sign me up!
There’s still no word on if the original Alice will be available separate over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, or if the only way to get it is to buy the new Alice: Madness Returns. During the discussion with CVG, McGee did also mention other DLC plans for Alice: Madness Returns. You can expect a lot of downloadable dresses as add-ons which “come with special abilities and enhance how you play through the game.” Yay for new dress types!
Alice: Madness Returns launches on June 14, 2011 for PC, Mac, PS3 and Xbox 360.
