We’re here to kick some musical behind on this beautiful morning, but let’s get one thing straight right off the bat: Theory of a Deadman are from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Yes, they like hockey. But no, they weren’t among the rioters throwing cars and firebombs after the Stanley Cup finals. These boys are far too classy for that kind of tomfoolery.
After 2008’s Scars & Souvenirs went platinum and yielded several #1 hits at rock radio, the world began to wake up and take notice of Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman. Now returning with The Truth Is…, their fourth album for Roadrunner/604 Records, the band has preserved the sound that fans worldwide have grown to love on their previous three albums while expanding, enhancing and evolving their approach to elevate their game to the next level.
“Lowlife” is the first single from their upcoming album, which drops on the anticipating masses on July 12, and CraveOnline has the exclusive premiere of the kickass video for the track.
For those who can remember the days when MTV actually played videos, the clip for “Lowlife” features Donal Logue, the comedian who played Jimmy the Cab Driver in those classic MTV commercial spots years ago; he also started in Grounded For Life and Terriers. He portrays the titular character in the video, a total d-bag who shows his junk off to unsuspecting passersby. He lives in a trailer, he blows shit up. He is the epitome of a “Lowlife”.

Frontman Tyler Connolly shares a taste of the experience making the “Lowlife” video with us:
“Shooting the video for ‘Lowlife’ was one of the most fun experiences. Having Donal Logue in it was amazing; he’s a great guy and a great actor. All that and we got to blow up a fucking trailer at the end of it all!!!”
“Lowlife” is an anti-anthem fit for arenas, with a tongue-in-cheek message. Tyler Connolly reveals, “I thought it’d be cool to write a fun anthem about being a lowlife. It’s okay to drive an old piece of shit car, get arrested and be a dirtball. Our fans aren’t wearing suits and ties. They don’t have diamond necklaces. They’re regular people who like to party and sing rock ‘n’ roll music. The song speaks to them.”
Theory of a Deadman are currently on the road with Stone Sour on the first-annual Avalanche Tour, and are expected to announce summer headlining dates soon.
