Marvel Studios’ upcoming crossover event, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to feature a sprawling ensemble, but a new report suggests that another major name from the MCU’s past will not be part of the massive cast.
Zendaya’s MJ won’t be in Avengers: Doomsday
The latest name reportedly absent from the call sheet is Zendaya. The actor’s role as MJ in the Spider-Man franchise has made her a cornerstone of Tom Holland’s corner of the universe, but it appears she will not factor into the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus addressed the character’s status during a Discord Q&A session with fans. When asked specifically about how Peter Parker and MJ’s relationship might evolve in both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, Perez responded directly. “MJ’s not involved in Doomsday as far as I know,” Perez stated.
This update comes on the heels of similar reports regarding other MCU veterans. The Beyond Reporter previously shared on X that Evangeline Lilly “is not in Avengers: Doomsday… for now.” The same source also suggested that Natalie Portman’s Lady Thor will not appear in the film. That claim contradicts an earlier report from scooper MAJESTIC_ucm, who suggested in March 2026 that Portman’s Jane Foster would appear as part of a Valhalla army sequence.
Moreover, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously hinted at the Avengers: Doomsday’s enormous scale, sharing that there were days on set where 30 to 35 actors were present at once. Despite those numbers, the cast will apparently move forward without contributions from Zendaya, Lilly, or Portman.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and is releasing in theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. The upcoming movie will see the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men unite against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
