A number of Canadian musicians are up for MTV Video Music Awards, including rapper Drake, The Weeknd, and everyone’s favorite teeny bopper (not) Justin Bieber.
Drake is nominated in the categories of Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Direction – “Started from the Bottom” was directed by Toronto’s Director X (real name is Julien Christian Lutz).
Meanwhile The Weeknd is one of the Artists to Watch and their video for the song “Wicked Games” has been nominated for Best Visual Effects category.
The Bieb received a nod in the Best Choreography category. Leading the pack with six noms each, however, are Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, and Ryan Lewis.
The MTV Video Music Awards will take place August 25th.
