Pam Oliver Takes Football To The Face

Let’s face it, the job of a sports sideline reporter is one that can get a little irritating.

Over the years this position has become more and more prominent during National Football League telecasts and thus become more and more useless.  If they’re not updating us on an injury or roster change we’ve already been made aware of, they’re explaining some stupid fact that happened pregame that is in no way relevant to the current game.

But often these reporters are close to the action – perhaps, too close.

That’s exactly the position FOX’s Pam Oliver found herself in on Sunday during a preseason game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.  The veteran reporter was interviewing a member of the Colts organization when all of the sudden a football beamed her right in the side of the dome.  The football was courtesy of Chandler Harnish, a practice squad quarterback who’s fighting Matt Hasselbeck for the backup position, behind second-year sensation Andrew Luck.

Of course after it happened, FOX decided to go back and show it again in slow motion, with Joe Buck adding his own commentary as it was happening.  Here’s the footage:
