Janelle Monae‘s long-awaited new album The Electric Lady finally arrives on Sept. 10, and in preparation she’s unveiled another collaboration from the album: “Primetime” featuring Miguel.
The R&B jam features Miguel on background vocals, and taking lead on the second verse. The track is very different for Monae, and puts a little more fuel in the engine of revived R&B ingenuity.
Miguel is one of a few high-profile guests set for The Electric Lady. Erykah Badu and Prince also have cameos on the the album.
“I had a chance to produce an icon,” Monae said regarding Prince’s appearance. “It’s not every day that he collaborates. I’m honored and humbled that he trusted me. He is forever my friend, and I am forever indebted. I can’t say too much else about it.”
