Toronto Fashion Week Is Off To A Great Start

Toronto Fashion Week, sponsored by MasterCard, is being held at David Pecaut Square all this week as a bevy of designers show off their latest collections for Spring 2014.

This year’s roster of designers includes mainstays like Joe Fresh, Melissa Nepton, and Rudsak, with the new-to-Canada department store chain Target also presenting. Minneapolis-based Target Corporation has a total of 1856 stores – 1,788 in the United States and 68 in Canada, and since 1946, the company has given five percent of its profit through community grants and programs (today, that giving equals more than $4 million a week). Axel Kohler, Christopher Bates, and Soia & Kyo will also be there. Debuting this season as well is Fashion Saturday, the newest offering from IMG’s fashion portfolio. Presented by BMO, Fashion Saturday will offer the public an inside look at Canada’s leading fashion event.

“World MasterCard Fashion Week continues to grow each season. The Spring 2014 Collections will see a dynamic group of established and emerging designers presenting their innovative visions for what’s next in fashion,” said Jarrad Clark, Global Creative Director, IMG Fashion Events & Properties, in the weeks leading up to the event. “The addition of Fashion Saturday presented by BMO will open the traditionally exclusive event to the public, giving designers a platform to connect with their direct consumers.”
