Despite Lady Gaga’s desperately eager & awkward, albeit somewhat successful, turn as host of “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend, the long-running sketch show knocked the comedic ball out of the park in several hilarious skits – but none quite so awesome as the spoof of known parody-hater Kanye West and his bride-to-be Kim Kardashian.
In a talk show spoof, “Waking Up with Kimye,” Jay Pharoah and Nasim Pedrad utterly rocked their respective impersonations of the world’s most fame-whoring vapid couple, with “Kanye” spastically promoting his girl’s hollow accomplishments, which drew back to his own, naturally.
“Y’all like this dress? I picked it out. This ain’t no Kris Humphries, basketball wife Kim,” Jay frothed, in an eerily spot-on impression of the egomaniacal rapper that rivals his Jay Z or Obama characters. “I turned this woman into an artist. A philosopher. An intergalactic icon of creativity.”
“And I’m blonde now!” Pedrad giggled, nailing the idiocy – particularly her flash of perplexed pride at the designation of “philosopher”.
Pharoah then brought on an Apple store employee, played by Gaga, to ridicule her clothes. On cue, Gaga threw a wink at her chief marketing trend: “I don’t care about fashion. I think people who try too hard with their outfits are maybe hiding something. Like, come on, dress like a person!”
If SNL’s not your thing and you’re still looking or a laugh, check out Kanye’s talk at the Harvard Graduate School of Design on Sunday, where Mr. Leather Sweatpants doled out such immaculate gems as “I really do believe that the world can be saved through design,” and, “I believe that utopia is actually possible, but we’re led by the least noble, the least dignified, the least tasteful, the dumbest, and the most political.” All while Kim looked on with nodding approval. The universe can now fold in on itself and tuck snugly up inside the devil’s ass, because this shit is on an Idiocracy level of amazing that belongs on South Park.
