Listen: Tame Impala Cover Michael Jackson’s ‘Stranger In Moscow’

Australian psych rock outfit Tame Impala have unveiled a chilling cover of Michael Jackson’s 1996 single ‘Stranger In Moscow’.

The Kevin Parker-led five-piece out of Perth have given the fifth single from the HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I album a makeover featuring some of the band’s trademark Tame Impala synths and ghostly vocals.

This is not the first time Tame Impala have tried their hand at a Michael Jackson cover. The guys mixed ‘Thriller’ to their own hit single ‘Elephant’ while supporting The Flaming Lips in the US last year.

Tame Impala also made noise earlier in the week when their new collaboration with rapper Kendrick Lamar dropped.

The new single ‘Backwards’, a re-make of ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ from the Divergent soundtrack, was leaked earlier in the week.

Frontman Kevin Parker has been working on yet another side project, this time taking a short timeout from his regular Tame Impala schedule to do some writing with a new group called AAA Aardvark, which made a recent debut performance in Fremantle.
