Early next month, Showtime will premiere its newest horror series, “Penny Dreadful” from Skyfall screenwriter John Logan and executive producer Sam Mendes.
Set in Victorian London, “Penny Dreadful” stars Josh Hartnett as Ethan Chandler, a man who is sucked into the supernatural underbelly of the city alongside the enigmatic Vanessa Ives, as portrayed by Eva Green. Billie Piper, Timothy Dalton, Anna Chancellor and Danny Sapani costar in the series.
Several of the classic 19th century characters will appear in the series, including Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and his creature (Rory Kinnear), Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney) and Mina Harker (Olivia Llewellyn) from Dracula.
While Showtime has previously kept most of the story details for “Penny Dreadful” hidden, the entire pilot episode has been released online ahead of its official debut on Sunday, May 11. The second episode of “Penny Dreadful” will also be released via Showtime Anytime immediately following the pilot episode’s premiere on Showtime.
