It looks like the adventures of Solid Snake finally have a cinematic mastermind worthy of the merc’s varied talents.
According to a Deadline report (re-reported on Crave film site Coming Soon), director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is in talks with Sony Pictures to helm the upcoming adaptation of the monster Metal Gear Solid video game franchise.
Vogt-Roberts made a notable splash last year with his debut flick The Kings of Summer, an accomplished little indie treat that apparently left Sony confident that the second-time director could pull off a major action picture for the studio.
In case you’re among the uninitiated, Solid Snake is a special ops agent and spy tasked with infiltrating the rogue U.S. Army Special Forces unit known as FOXHOUND, who have threatened to launch a nuclear strike.
Spider-Man producer Avi Arad is set to produce the film, although no release date is currently set.
