Musical Chairs Free Agency: Kevin Love Style

The question is, where will Minnesota ship their All Star forward? Much like what happens in musical chairs, Love’s destination is uncertain at this point. With that in mind, let’s play a few rounds.

Were Love to wind up in Los Angeles, the Lakers would be able to pair him up with Kobe Bryant and not much else. The Lakers were basically a D-League team last year and they have multiple first round draft picks being sent out in future years (2015 and 2017) with none coming in. Were Love to come to LA, it might feel like a jail break for a little while, but the Lakers don’t have much to offer to set him up with a winning team.

With 17 NBA Championships, one more than the rival Lakers, the Celtics have a winning tradition that Love would likely find attractive and fit right into. They also have a plethora of first-round picks through 2018, including their own, that they might be able to package with a young player with upside like Jared Sullinger to entice the Wolves to deal Love. It would take some doing, but starting a new “Big Three” with Rajon Rondo and Love could work. Rondo’s down…
