Google Wants to Let You Browse the Web in Virtual Reality with Oculus Rift

Google is looking to add Oculus Rift support to Chrome, meaning that those who own the headset will be able to browse the web in virtual reality.

While Mozilla has been the first company to add VR support to its browser after adding Oculus Rift functionality to Firefox, Google’s ambitions for the tech is suitably more ambitious, as one of its key goals is to allow users to view items on Amazon etc. in VR before purchasing them.

Browsing the web in virtual reality won’t exactly make for a transformative experience, and Google has recognized this, but it hopes to add enough to the experience that people will want to use the Oculus Rift with Chrome for more than just looking at you know what.

Though only Oculus Rift support has been added into Chrome thus far, Google is working on creating functionality for its Cardboard headset, too.
