You may want to consider a long layover in Edinburgh over the next month. Airport officials have teamed up with chefs and World Duty-Free to create a whisky festival from now until the end of September.
Showcasing one of Scotland’s finest exports, bars and restaurants at Edinburgh airport will create new dishes and cocktails using Auchentoshan single malt whiskies.
Dram-lovers and fans of classic Scottish fare can enjoy haggis, neeps and tatties or venison served with a whisky sauce. Mixologists are blending some whisky cocktails, too.

Stop by the duty-free, where they’ve set up a special whisky tasting bar, featuring some exclusive bottles not available on the High Street, including a 40-year old Brora going for just under an eye-watering £7k.
Richard Townsend, Head of Retail and Property at Edinburgh Airport, says, “Scotch whisky is renowned the world over and we want our passengers to be at the heart of our new festival. With the Edinburgh Fringe well underway and the Ryder Cup just around the corner, we’re expecting millions of people to be traveling through our airport over the few months.”
