TIFF 2014: ‘The Drop’ – Exclusive Gallery

There are certain authors who just know crime. James Ellroy is one, Raymond Chandler was another, and Dennis Lehane is certainly on the list as well. His works have been adapted into the acclaimed films Mystic RiverGone Baby Gone and Shutter Island, and his latest adaptation – written by Lehane himself, from his short story “Animal Rescue” – screens this weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival

We here at CraveOnline know that not everyone gets to go to TIFF this year, so we’re bringing a small piece of it to you via this exclusive image gallery for The Drop, featuring Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus). Tom Hardy plays a Brooklyn bartender who gets involved in “money drops” for organized crime, but whose cousin (the late James Gandolfini) gets him involved in a robbery gone awry and the ensuing investigation.

From the Press Release:

THE DROP is a new crime drama from Michael R. Roskam, the Academy Award nominated director of BULLHEAD.  Based on a screenplay from Dennis Lehane (SHUTTER ISLAND, GONE BABY GONE), THE DROP follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) through a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters – “money drops” in the underworld of Brooklyn bars.  Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood’s past.  Also featuring Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ann Dowd and John Ortiz.
