Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have revealed that the next franchise they’d like to fuse with the Dynasty Warriors series following Hyrule Warriors would be Star Wars.
Hyrule Warriors producer Hisashi Koinuma and Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi sat down with Eurogamer, in order to discuss Hyrule Warriors‘ creation and the possibility of bringing Warriors’ “Musou” format to other series. Both Hayashi and Koinuma agreed that there’s one specific franchise they’d like to get their hands on, with the quote reading:
“It’s a personal opinion but I’d love to work with Star Wars one day, if I got the chance,” Suzuki chuckled. Koinuma separately agreed. “Without any restrictions or anything, the ideal dream would be to work on Star Wars,” he said. It feels like something that has definitely been discussed amongst team members – even if it was just down the pub.
Hyrule Warriors has been generally well-received, with many appreciating the attention to detail Team Ninja had put into lovingly recreating the characters and environments from The Legend of Zelda series.

A Star Wars Musou title certainly seems like it would be a perfect match, with the frenetic nature of the Dynasty Warriors games going hand-in-hand with the epic lightsaber battles featured in the movie franchise. Star Wars is now owned by Disney with Disney Interactive publishing all games based upon the sci-fi franchise, so if Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja were to create a Star Wars/Dynasty Warriors hybrid (Star Warriors?) they’d need to go through Disney first. We hope this isn’t just a pipe dream.
