Soundwave Teases Addition Of Rock Supergroup

Soundwave 2015 will be bolstered by the addition of a rock “supergroup” according to promoter AJ Maddah.

The man behind some of Australia’s biggest festival bills took to Twitter on Monday to tease Soundwave’s second lineup announcement and the inclusion of a mysterious supergroup.

Maddah’s “You want supergroups? We have got supergroups! #SW15 #JusticeLeagueOfRock” tweet naturally set fire to waves of fresh lineup speculation, including star-studded acts Dead Men Walking and The Damned Things.

Consisting of The Living End’s Chris Cheney, The Damned’s Captain Sensible, Stray CatsSlim Jim Phantom and Mike Peters of The Alarm, as well as occasional special guests comedian Fred Armisen and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Dead Men Walking are coming off a couple of dates in Los Angeles and are set to announce “lots and lots of tour dates”, according to the band’s official website.

The Damned Things feature Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley, also booked for Soundwave, but like Dead Men Walking, are currently on hiatus.

The Dead Daisies– made up of members from INXS, Noiseworks, Mink and Guns N’ Roses- are set to drop a new single in the near future and are launching a tour of Australia and New Zealand in November.

The second announcement of roughly 14 acts will join the likes of Slipknot, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Incubus, Slash, and Marilyn Manson for Soundwave stops in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in February and March.

Music Feeds confirmed last week that the festival was closing in on a deal with a commercial airline to send punters from Perth across the country following the Soundwave’s decision not to return to the city after years of decreasing attendances and the heavy costs involved in transferring one of the Australia’s premier summer festivals from coast to coast.
