CBC Unveils Winter Schedule

CBC has a number of new shows as well as several returning favourites on its recently-unveiled winter schedule, the network announced this week. From exciting dramas to original home-grown comedies, winter won’t seem so mundane with the CBC’s schedule for the coming months.

A few newbies on the bill will include Donald Sutherland’s animated coming of age tale “Pirate’s Passage” on January 4th; the gripping adaptation of Lawrence Hill’s novel “The Book of Negroes,” premiering January 7th; BBC’s “Life Story,” a compelling nature series by David Attenborough, on January 11th; and the hilarious stand-up comedy specials from the “Winnipeg Comedy Festival” beginning January 11th.

The CBC is also behind the highly-anticipated new comedy series “Schitt’s Creek,” which debuts with back-to-back episodes January 13th and stars Canadians Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara. There is also the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama “Ascension” that launches February 9th, the World War II spy thriller “X Company,” premiering February 18th, and the four-part crime drama “Chasing Shadows,” starting on March 23rd.

Plus, catch all-new episodes of returning prime-time hit series “Mr. D,” “Murdoch Mysteries,” “Dragons’ Den,” “The Rick Mercer Report,” “22 Minutes,” “Marketplace,” and “Doc Zone,” to name a few.
