Discovery Rings In Holidays With Nine All-New Series

Discovery just announced its plans for the holidays, and they include an incredible nine new projects, all of which launch this season.

In total, the network is launching 64 hours of new programming. Approaching its 20th anniversary in January 2015, Playback’s Channel of the Year and Canada’s #1 entertainment specialty network announced it will air nine, full-season premiere runs, totalling 64 hours of all-new programming, beginning Sunday, December 21st through to January 4th. Discovery’s holiday schedule –  even more robust than a broadcaster’s typical fall season launch, features brand new series “Highway to Sell” (every guy ultimate four-wheel fantasy becomes his worst nightmare when he’s forced to choose between the cash he needs and the dream ride he knew his car could become), “Ice Lake Rebels” (freeze and thaw periods are the two most deadly times of the year on Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, where a handful of survivalists hunt for food, drill for water, trade for necessities, and protect their turf), “Buying the Beach” where families looks for their perfect beachhouse, “Fat N’ Furious” (follows the hilarious car junkies of Christmas Automotive as they hunt down left-for-dead cars and bring them back to life and to the racetrack), “Dukes of Haggle,” which presents a whole new breed of savvy American tradesmen as they barter for a living, “Shackleton” (where a crew of five British and Australian adventurers join expedition leader Tim Jarvis in an attempt to become the first to authentically re-enact Sir Ernest Shackleton’s perilous voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia), “Redwood Kings” (uncovers the artistry that goes into turning ancient reclaimed redwood trees into hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind, creative works of art), and “Gunslingers,” which presents the true stories behind infamous icons and legendary conflicts of the Wild West.

Complementing the incredible holiday schedule are epic marathons of Discovery’s megahits “Gold Rush,” “Canada’s Wost Driver,” “Shark Week,” “Highway Thru Hell,” and the return of naked New Years, a.k.a. “Naked and Afraid!
