Eddie Vedder Hangs With President Obama in Hawaii

President Obama visited with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to conclude his Hawaii vacation with family over the weekend.

The President took his daughters, Sasha and Malia, to visit Vedder and his family in Kailua, in Honolulu County, Hawaii. The Obamas were renting a vacation home on the island as well.

The Obamas spent less than half an hour with Vedder, who the White House describes as a friend of the Obamas, having performed at a fundraiser for Obama’s re-election campaign in Florida and made various supporting references throughout his solo tours. Obama could do well to attend a Pearl Jam show, for that matter, and pay particular attention to any one of these ten incredible protest-song covers the band regularly plays.

Additionally, President Obama reportedly visited the cemetery where his mother’s father is buried. Obama also visited his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng before returning to Washington on Sunday.

Pearl Jam, meanwhile, are enjoying some well-earned downtime after successfully touring behind their remarkable new album Lightning Bolt. Read our review
