In 2003, directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini wowed the audience at the Sundance Film Festival with American Splendor, a film that CraveOnline recently declared one of The 50 Best Sundance Movies Ever. Now, 12 years later, they are making a triumphant return with Ten Thousand Saints, a new coming-of-age drama starring Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Ethan Hawke (Boyhood) and Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild).
We were big fans of Ten Thousand Saints at CraveOnline (see?), so we made sure to sit down with Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini for a video interview about where this funny and unusual film came from. We also delve into the changes that have befallen Sundance over the last 12 years, some of which aren’t necessarily all that good.
