Xbox had a strong lineup to finish off 2014, but its early 2015 is paying for it. There aren’t too many exclusives hitting the platform before Fall. Though, there is one game that might just surprise you.
Screamride is arriving in less than two weeks for Xbox One and Xbox 360. It adds more diversity to the Xbox library by not only being a game from an under-saturated genre, but one that is trying something new.
So, what is Screamride all about? Read below to find out.
Screamride - Everything You Need to Know
From the makers of RollerCoaster Tycoon
Screamride has been developed by Frontier Developments, the studio responsible for the original RollerCoaster Tycoon and even Zoo Tycoon . You could say it knows a thing or two about construction and management simulators.
Three ways to enjoy coasters
Screamride isn't your typical rollercoaster game. Instead of making you a theme park manager, you're able to build and enjoy rollercoasters in three distinct game modes:
ScreamRider - You get to ride a rollercoaster, using a variety of inputs to manage your speed and control. In way it functions as a racing game on rails.Demolition - You get to launch amusement cabins and cars at a variety of objects and structures. The game's physics engine makes explosions a sight to behold as you aim for high scores.Engineer - You are allowed to craft a coaster from the ground up using an array of tools. It's all about pushing g-forces and thus nausea to the limit in this mode.
Travel to six locations
Screamride features six locations, each with a distinct theme. They are as follows:
Populous Labs - Science theme.Falls Research - Tropical theme.Beldurraren Laku - Volcano theme.Caldera Complex - Crater theme.De Frusna - Tundra theme. The Fortress - Military theme. Each location has several missions to be completed, which tend to become more difficult as you progress.
There are cutscenes
Believe it or not, Screamride has a story to tell. As a matter of fact, there are short cutscenes before many of the missions. So, you aren't just building coasters for the heck of it, there is some context to what you're doing.
Prepare for destruction
Screamride features a full-blown physics engine that simulates destructions. You'll catapult coasters into massive buildings filled with dynamite, and watch them crumble into thousands of pieces.
If you found yourself making death parks in RollerCoaster Tycoon , this is the game for you.
Sharing and leaderboards
While Screamride doesn't feature conventional multiplayer, it does introduce a level of interaction catered to both co-operative and competitive types of people.
For one, there's a Level Center where you can create and share levels in Sandbox mode. With it your works can be shared with the world.
There's always a leaderboard system for all the missions in the game. There are many variables for each mission, creating a lot of deviation between those who
An affordably priced title
Screamride will release on March 3rd for $39.99 on Xbox One and $29.99 on Xbox 360. With so few games to play during the first half of 2015, it's a fair value proposition.
