Fans of Osheaga needed to have their mobile app game to find out what this year’s line-up was – organizers announced that acts like Florence and the Machine as well as The Black Keys will be at this year’s event in Montreal via the game “The Road to Osheaga.”
According to The Gazette in Montreal, Apple iOS users were to be able to download the app for free as of Wednesday afternoon, they were told by festival organizers, while Google Play and Android users will have to wait until Thursday at noon.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, fans can use their iPhones, iPad or other smartphone or tablet to download the free append to learn about this year’s line-up, which includes nearly 80 artists and groups who will participate in the festival’s 2015 edition.
Developed by Behaviour Interactive in Montreal, “The Road to Osheaga” is a driver game in which Oshee and Aga, the Festival’s mascots, drive through the city’s streets behind the wheel of their convertible on their way to Osheaga 2015. By avoiding obstacles along the way, Oshee and Aga earn bonus “10th anniversary cake” points that will unlock a brief audio clip by the various groups and artists in attendance at Parc Jean-Drapeau this summer.
“The Osheaga team is very proud to be the first festival in North America to give such a gift to our fans to celebrate our 10th anniversary. With this game, fans can hear the music while discovering the artists and bands on the lineup, which is added value to their experience. We are glad to have found an original and fun way to bring together the world of arts and music with the gaming world, two complementary areas that are constantly making headlines and promoting the city of Montreal,” said Nick Farkas, Vice-President of Concerts and Events at evenko, in a press release.
Osheaga runs from July 31st to August 2nd. Tickets go on sale on March 24th at noon.
