Ed Sheeran was just announced as the co-host of this year’s Much Music Video Awards during “The Roast of Justin Bieber” – the Grammy nominee is a mainstay at the MMVAs, as this will be his fourth straight appearance at the event.
“Canada, can’t wait to come back for my fourth MMVAs,” said Ed Sheeran in a press release. “I’m thrilled they asked me to host this year. I hope this isn’t an early April Fool’s joke.”
Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, beatboxer, and guitarist Sheeran’s eclectic blend of acoustic pop, folk, and hip-hop has catapulted him to the top of the charts. The multi-platinum selling artist has sold-out back-to-back headlining tours, which included a trio of shows at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden. In 2012, Sheeran toured North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour, before releasing his second studio album entitled X (pronounced “multiply”), which has reached #1 on album charts across the globe, including in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. Nominated for six Grammy Awards (including Album of the Year), Sheeran recently won British Album of the Year and British Male Solo Artist at the 2015 Brit Awards, and was named 2014’s biggest-selling global male solo artist by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), outselling Sam Smith, Beyoncé, Coldplay, and many more. He will play at London’s Wembley Stadium three times this summer.
Last year’s co-hosts were Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
The 2015 Much Music Video Awards will air live on Sunday, June 21st on Much.
