Mike Bolsinger’s Major League debut could have started out better. After all, he did give up just the fifth home run to ever be hit out of Dodger Stadium.
Giancarlo Stanton destroyed an 85 mph cutter off of Bolsinger in the very first inning. According to MLB’s Statcast, the exit velocity of the baseball was 114 mph and went a projected 475 feet.
The only other players to have hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium are Willie Stargell (twice), Mike Piazza and Mark McGwire (16 years ago).
Let’s just say it was a good homecoming for Stanton, who is originally from the San Fernando Valley.
Bolsinger and the Doyers did have the last laugh, winning the game 11-1.
