Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh has been murdered overnight with his son arrested by police.
South Australian police were called to a home at Somerton Park just after 2am on Friday morning where they found a 55-year old man had been murdered.
According to a press release from SA Police, ambulance crews treated Walsh, however, he was unable to be revived and died at the scene. His wife also sustained injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.
Walsh’s 26 year-old son has been arrested by police under suspicion of murder but charges are yet to be laid.
“Police can confirm that the man murdered at Somerton Pk this morning is Phil Walsh, coach of the Adelaide Crows,” SA Police wrote on their Twitter.
The coach was in his first year in the position at the Adelaide Crows after former coach Brenton Sanderson was sacked last year.
UPDATE 03/06/15: Walsh’s 26-year-old son has been charged with murder. He is currently undergoing a mental health assessment at the Flinders Medical Centre.
