The BBC are offering a Top Gear hosting job to members of the public, allowing car enthusiasts to stand alongside Chris Evans and wax lyrical about wheels, spoilers and all those other car things that car people talk about.
Producers of the show want aspiring presenters to create a 30-second video of them talking about cars in the style that they would implement on the show. The casting call reads: “Do you live, breathe and even eat all things automotive? Can you tell a Maserati from a Mazda by the thrum – or otherwise – of its engine? Do you know more about cars than any sane, balanced human should? Then we want to hear from you!”
The post states that the broadcaster isn’t looking for cars, stunts and gimmicks in these videos, but just 30 seconds of budding hosts talking to a camera about automobiles. It sounds pretty simple, but considering the huge amount of people that are likely to apply for this role, getting a call back from the BBC is likely going to be more difficult than it seems.

However, while only one member of the public is going to be chosen to fill the role and whatever it may entail, the BBC have stated that the clips sent in may still be used on the programme, so even if you fail you could still have your mug featured on the show. Hooray!
