Cinemax’s Banshee Rumored To End After Season 4

Two years ago, a master criminal came to Banshee, Pennsylvania and assumed the role of its deceased Sheriff, Lucas Hood as a way to hide and to continue his thieving ways. But in 2016, Lucas Hood’s story will finally come to an end.

TVLine is reporting that the upcoming eight episode fourth season of Banshee will be the end of the series. Cinemax has not officially confirmed the news, but it does track with an interview that Banshee executive producer, Greg Yaitanes gave earlier this year.

“[Banshee] always had a limited premise and lifespan,” said Yaitanes while speaking to TV Guide. “We push hard to make sure every episode is better than the one before it, and that takes an enormous amount of energy and creativity and work.”

The TVLine report also indicates that the Banshee producers were able to create an “epic’ ending for the series because they knew that the show was wrapping up well in advance.

At the end of Banshee Season 3, Hood resigned from his role as the sheriff. But before he checks out for good, Hood will have to deal with a serial killer and the FBI Agent sent to catch the killer. Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku has already been signed to play the FBI Agent, Veronica Dawson, whom the show describes as a “sexy and shockingly reckless FBI profiler.”

Banshee Season 4 is expected to premiere in early 2016 on Cinemax.
