Who Is Donna Vekic?

Donna Vekic is currently ranked No. 127 in the world among women’s tennis players. She has four ITF Women’s Circuit Singles titles and almost a million dollars in career earnings and she’s only 19 years-old. And unfortunately, she’s at the center of a “controversy.”

The Croatian head-turner appears to be front and center of a love-triangle, which was called out during a men’s match Wednesday night at the Montreal Masters. 

Vekic is supposedly dating Swiss pro Stanislas Wawrinka. His Aussie opponent, Nick Kyrgios, knew this little tidbit and therefore decided to throw him off mid-match by mentioning “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate.” …

… As in, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Kyrgios’ Australian Davis Cup teammate, and a guy who has also been linked to Vekic…

I mean holy *&^%! 

Did this tennis player really just drop a relationship nuke in public? Or, was he just trying to get under his skin?

Either way, Wawrinka wasn’t amused, tweeting, “

“So disappointing to see a fellow athlete and colleague be so disrespectful in a way I could never even imagine … What was said I wouldn’t say to my worst enemy. To stop so low is not only unacceptable but also beyond belief …There is no need for this kind of behaviour on or off the court and I hope the governing body of this sport does not stand for this and stands for the integrity of this sport that we have worked so hard to build.”

As for Vekic? Most likely impart because she’s blonde, she’s being called the next Maria Sharapova. Below are snapshots from her social media.

Kyrgios was fined $10,000 Thursday for his remarks.
