Exclusive: Mike Mignola’s Cover For Baltimore: Cult of The Red King

Today is the 55th birthday of iconic comic book writer and artist, Mike Mignola. Prior to striking out on his own with Dark Horse Comics, Mignola worked on The Phantom Stranger, Cosmic Odyssey, and Gotham by Gaslight for DC Comics, in addition to Wolverine: The Jungle Adventure, Doctor Strange/Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment, and Rocket Raccoon for Marvel Comics.

In 1994, Mignola created Hellboy and the B.P.R.D., which spawned several miniseries and ongoing series over the last two decades. In 2007, Mignola and novelist Christopher Golden created Baltimore, a new series that followed monster hunter Lord Henry Baltimore in alternate timeline set just after the first World War.

To celebrate Mignola’s birthday, CraveOnline is proud to exclusively unveil Mignola’s cover for Baltimore: Cult of The Red King hardcover.

During the events of Cult of The Red King, Lord Baltimore will pursue the legendary Red King, who was long thought to be only a myth. However, the Red King may in fact be humanity’s deadliest adversary and the fate of the world is once again at stake.

In a statement, Golden said “What I love best about Baltimore is that I really believe there’s nothing else like it in the comics marketplace. It’s unique. The Cult of The Red King is epic horror spanning three continents, with a large cast of characters and a real sense of dread thanks to stunning art by Peter Bergting and the mood set by the colors of Dave Stewart, who is the best colorist in the business, bar none.”

Baltimore: Cult of The Red King was written by Mignola and Golden, with art by Peter Bergting, colors by Dave Stewart and covers by Ben Stenbeck. The hardcover collection will be released on January 6, 2016.
