Fans of Sherlock and Doctor Who rejoice!
In the continued internet-ing of television, the BBC announced today that they will be launching their own Netflix-style streaming subscription service for the United States. BBC’s shows will still be available on Netflix and Hulu and other streaming services, but these would provide a comprehensive library of BBC shows for the aspiring Anglophile.

There is no list, yet, as to which shows will be available on the BBC’s streaming service, or if they will be offering an archive of older shows. It has, however, been announced that the service will launch as early as 2016. BBC has been looking to expand their revenue and stay relevant in an increasingly online-saturated marketplace, and this might just be the move they need, although certain analysts often say that niche streaming services are typically less successful than their wider-breadth counterparts like Netflix and Hulu. It could, however, clean up a busy marketplace.
