Google Fiber Sends Internet Users Gifts to Convince Them to Change ISPs

You wouldn’t think that it’d take much convincing to get Internet users to make the switch to Google Fiber once the service becomes available in their area. Google’s broadband Internet boasts download speeds of 1 Gbit/s, a vast improvement upon the lackluster speeds offered by other US ISPs, for an incredibly reasonable sum of $70 per month.

Such is the staggering speeds of Google’s service that it’s even been suggested that the company isn’t actually interested in becoming a global ISP whatsoever, but rather that they want to “shame” current ISPs into improving their speeds, thus allowing web users to more easily access their search engine. But despite them being head and shoulders above their competitors, Google is still working hard to lure new customers to their service, with a Reddit user revealing that they had been sent a gift by the company in order to convince them to make the switch.

A bouquet of flowers landed on the doorstep of Redditor chocomilkpudding, accompanied by the note: “A little something for your home.

We were in your neighborhood and thought we’d say hello. Not long ago, we connected your home to our fibre-optic network. That means if you want super fast Internet, you’re only one step away. All you need to do is sign up online and we’ll get your installation appointment scheduled.”

Unfortunately, the Redditor revealed that they would not be able to join Google Fiber at this point, as they are already signed up to a contract with another ISP.

We’re sure that once this contract comes to a close they’ll be looking to move to Google’s service, though this will likely be due to their super fast Internet rather than their taste in flowers.

Google Fiber’s slow rollout across the US. The company’s latest expansion has seen them bring their service to Salt Lake City, Utah, with the company also revealing this year that they are looking to expand into Irvine, CA, San Diego, CA, and Louisville, KY.
