As the much vaunted 90s ad campaign taught us, bananas make our bodies sing. However for those of us with a flair for the culinary arts, it can be hard to find recipes that incorporate them into anything beyond banana bread, pancakes or a muffin.
With that in mind, and being not content to sit back and do nothing, we thought we’d offer up some of the more interesting solutions to that problem we’ve come across recently, with our 6 Out Of The Box Banana Based Recipes To Delight Your Tastebuds.
Raw Vegan Peanut Butter Pie

Now this is one of my favourite forms of cake (that is a long list trust me), the raw vegan cake, aka the freeze cake. Oversimplifying things slightly, you freeze a bunch of raw ingredients together and the result is like a giant peanut butter cup ice cream cake. Let it thaw a little before trying to cut it though, unless you want RSI in your wrists. Recipe here via Eat Good 4 Life.
Banana And Coffee Dark Chocolate Chip Healthy Breakfast Cookies

These cookies are not only a sweet treat, and not only a morning pick me up thanks to the coffee, but they’re also healthy… well at least compared to the danish I’d usually be scoffing. Recipe via Zoe Holland and Spoon University
Chicken Curry With Banana Raisin and Peanuts

While if this article were meant to reflect my actual cooking (or the lack thereof) I would just fill it up with more deserts and sweet snacks, I thought a touch of variety was in order. If you’ve never tried banana in a curry this dish will be a real treat, as not only does it’s soft texture shine here, it’s subtle flavour allows means it absorbs the curry, for a result that is greater than the sum of it’s parts. Banana Guacamole

Woah woah woah! First you’re putting bananas in curry now you are making guacamole out of them? That’s right. Deal with it! While banana ketchup might be getting a lot of attention these days due to Sydney’s ongoing obsession with Central and South American food, trust me that this little doozy will soon be the talk of the town. That this isn’t already a product is proof of how far we have yet to go toward building a perfect society. Criminally easy to make (you literally blend in some banana with some peanut butter) this delicious and relatively healthy spread is perfect on anything from toast, to muffins, even banana bread if you want to get all meta on your banana intake.
