NFL drama and HBO sports comedy Ballers, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Spencer Strasmore, follows the former NFL player turned financial manager, and it’s back with Season 2 on Sunday, July 17th.
Ballers focuses on the glamorous and cutthroat lives of pro-football players in Miami, desperate to stay in the game, and trying to cope after they’ve played their last. Season 2 continues to tell the story of Strasmore and his struggle to help the new generation of athletes maintain their status as “ballers.”
Returning cast include John David Washington, Omar Benson Miller (CSI: Miami), Donovan Carter (UCLA defensive linemen), Troy Garity (Barbershop), Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), and Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries) and Dulé Hill (The West Wing). Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven) also joins the cast this season as Andre, Spencer’s business rival.
Season 2 features guest appearances from a myriad of sports all-stars, who play clients, friends, and enemies of Spencer’s, including Ndamukong Suh (defensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins), Terrell Suggs (linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens), Anthony “Spice” Adams (former NFL defensive tackle), Jared Odrick (defensive for the Jacksonville Jaguars), Mark Schlereth (former NFL player, television and radio sportscaster), and Jay Glazer (NFL Insider and writer for FoxSports.com).
