David Bowie’s ashes being spread at Burning Man sounds like an internet tale that is too good (or bad) to be true. Well E! News (okay, not exactly The New York Times or even TMZ) is reporting that Iman, Bowie’s widow, granted the music icon’s godchild permission to take some of his ashes to the annual gathering, which took place in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert over Labor Day weekend.
“David’s godchild and David had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and David loved the message behind it,” an E! News “source” explained.

However, Bowie’s son, Warcraft director Duncan Jones, shot down the claim on Twitter, as a publicity stunt and was backed up by Bowie’s publicist, who said in a statement to the Independent that, “There is no truth in the story.”
That Burning Man thing? What people will do & say for attention never ceases to amaze me. Not true. Kind of a gross claim as well. *sigh*

What is known is that the “Ashes to Ashes” singer (see video below) was honored at last weekend’s Burning Man Festival in the Temple structure which was built to remember attendees’ lost loved ones and was burned toward the end of the festival.
