FIFA 17‘s single-player campaign mode, titled ‘The Journey’, will place players in the shoes of a young upstart trying to climb up the ranks of professional football, vying for a spot in the Premier League and, ultimately, the England national team. While I was previously very intrigued to see whether or not EA manages to pull off this new venture, the latest gameplay trailer for the mode has now piqued my interest as it features the voice acting talents of various footballers, including Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
Though Harry Kane only briefly appears in the trailer, he makes an impact. With his one line – a mumbled “are you ready?” – he’s sold me on FIFA 17 more so than any other footage I’ve seen from the game thus far. The idea that Harry Kane, a man who looks like that lad from secondary school who would eat food that had been dropped on the floor, has been given a voice acting role is enough for me to suggest, with no hyperbole, that this may be the best football game ever made.
Although Harry Kane isn’t the only footballer featured in the trailer, with Reus and Di Maria also making brief appearances, I think we can all agree that Harry Kane is definitely the man we want to see more of when FIFA 17 releases later this month. Hopefully he plays a prominent role in the game’s single-player mode, or at the very least another line.
FIFA 17 will be released on September 27 in North America and September 29 in the rest of the world. Check out the gameplay trailer below:
