Red Dead Redemption 2 has been officially announced by Rockstar, but the sequel to the company’s 2010 blockbuster hit won’t be making its way to the PC.
Rockstar confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 today, revealing that it would be released in Fall 2017 with its first trailer debuting on October 20 at 11am Eastern. However, the official statement from the company announcing the upcoming game states that it will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One, with there being no mention of a PC version.
The statement reads:
“Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.
An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
Grand Theft Auto V also avoided the PC upon its launch, with a separate and improved version of the game launching on the platform releasing two years following its initial launch. However, PC owners will rightfully question why Rockstar is still not capable of releasing their games on consoles and PC in tandem, what with there now being a greater parity between current-gen systems and desktops.
We imagine that Red Dead Redemption 2 will make its way to PC in the future, though given the lengthy amount of time it took GTAV to arrive on the platform, PC owners shouldn’t hold their breath for it to be released near the game’s Fall 2017 launch. Hopefully when/if it finally does arrive on the platform, it will boast enough extra content that it will have been worth the wait.
