The earlier tweet sent out by the official Hello Games Twitter account was the result of a hack, according to the company’s founder Sean Murray.
Murray took to Twitter to explain that the tweet, which stated “No Man’s Sky was a mistake” before the Twitter account was set to private, was as a result of the Hello Games server being hacked. Murray made the admission on his Twitter account, which has been inactive since August 18, posting the following series of tweets:
Server hacked. We’re binging Mr Robot Episodes as quickly as we can looking for answers. Ep05 is a cracker

If anything was a mistake, it was using Linked In without 2FA.

.@hellogames are you still hacked and stuff?
— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) October 28, 2016
The tweet was sent via Murray’s LinkedIn account, with it being reported that he had sent out an email after the Hello Games account was locked explaining that the team has “not been coping well.” Many began to grow concerned about Murray and the rest of the studio after the tweet was posted, though Murray has now confirmed that he did not send it.
The Hello Games account also posted its own message explaining the troubling tweet:
.@NoMansSky 100% not hacked anymore… obviously those mails and that tweet were fake. Back to work
