Any time two of the “Original Six” NHL teams lace up the skates and give it a go on the ice for three periods, it’s must-watch TV, and that once again proved to be the case Sunday night in Boston, as the Montreal Canadiens rolled into town to face off against the Bruins.
It didn’t take long for fans to indulge in one of the biggest reasons why we love hockey, as the game’s first fight went down in the first minute. Boston’s Torey Krug and Montreal’s Andrew Shaw exchanged words and then fists for a few seconds before a Shaw right hook finally connected with something other than Krug’s helmet and sent the Bruins defenseman to the ice.
Here’s A Ref With Probably The Greatest Hockey Penalty Call Of All Time
Now for the most part, that fight sucked balls. Pretty much the exact opposite? You guessed it: The way the referee announced what each of the five-minute penalties was for.
Surprisingly, Krug and Shaw weren’t sent to the penalty box for fighting as anybody watching the game would have been led to believe. You see, kids, the two players had to spend five minutes in timeout because they were…wait for it…FIGHTING!
