Ashley Judd Takes Over ‘Berlin Station’ Season 2

Ashley Judd isn’t afraid of Americans, but she does have a new gig on the EPIX original series, Berlin Station!

Via Deadline, Judd has signed on as a series regular for the second season of Berlin Station. In the aftermath of the first season, Richard Jenkins’ Steven Frost was forced out of the CIA’s Berlin Station. Judd’s character will be BB Yates, the woman brought in to replace Frost as the new Chief of Station. According to her character description, Yates is called “The Station Whisperer” because she has a reputation for bring troubled CIA stations back in line. It also notes that Yates “toes a dangerous line between serving those above her and empowering those below her. Always a contradiction, she arrives in Berlin to defy expectations and breathe new life into the troubled CIA station she now runs.”

Judd previously starred in the ABC series Missing, but she is best known for her feature film roles in Kiss the Girls, Double Jeopardy, Bug, and Divergent. In a statement, EPIX CEO Mark Greenberg said  “We are thrilled to welcome the incredibly talented Ashley Judd to the cast of Berlin Station. With its illustrious auspices among both cast and producers — and subject matter that is more timely than ever — Berlin Station brings the kind of high-quality, compelling storytelling for which Epix is known. We couldn’t be more excited to embark on a new season.”

Of course, one of the emerging plotlines from the first season finale is that Richard Armitage’s Daniel Miller has assumed the role of the whistleblower, Thomas Shaw. While Miller probably won’t be as destructive as his predecessor in the role, that still seems likely to bring him into conflict with Judd’s new character.

Berlin Station season 2 will begin filming at the end of this month, and it will return to EPIX later this year.
