The future’s looking bright for Kid Astray. After breaking out of their home country Norway, the band recorded their debut album Home Before The Dark in Manchester in 2015, cultivating a dedicated following in the UK in the process.
Now the young band has returned with ‘Fall To My Knees’, taken from the band’s upcoming EP and the first single they’ve released under Sony Music. With influences ranging from MGMT to Passion Pit, the band’s euphoric electro-pop has seen them attract the ears of youthful revelers throughout Europe, though the origins of their latest single stemmed from a darker period in their music career. “‘Fall to My Knees’ is about a gig we played in Berlin in the spring of 2015”, they said of the track. “We were having a really tough time, battling some undue negativity in the media and in the people around us.
“We just wanted to quit, go to sleep, and not play this showcase at a club. But that show just blew up and made us remember why in the world we’re so determined to keep on doing this. It’s pretty big for a couple of 20 year olds to able to play a sold-out show in the hipster capitol of Europe. And this song is a reminder of that.”

The band also described the idea behind the music video for the single. “We played this totally packed gig at Samfundet in Trondheim earlier this spring, and had some friends of us film the whole thing”, they said. “Right before the gig we got this idea that we wanted to make a music video out of it, showcasing the artwork for the single with animations and stuff. And also because we knew it would be a really cool gig on film. The really talented guys at Nattrop did an awesome job capturing the gig, and Ask Sunde magically put it all together, before Håkon drew stop motion animations on it in the style of the single cover. So everyone should totally hire them.”
